City of Trees Kickstarter campaign raises $35K in first two weeks!

Thanks to the support of our incredible community, during the first 20 days of our Kickstarter campaign, we raised more than $35,000 from over 250 backers! The community behind City of Treesis rapidly growing.

This community of funders represents an incredible cross-section of friends, family, filmmakers, non-profit and public partners and neighbors.

We are now using the remaining 12 days of the campaign to expand our community of supporters and ensure the film can reach as wide and diverse an audience as possible. Now that we know we will have enough funds to cover out-of-pocket costs to complete the film itself, any funds raised beyond the $35K will cover the staff time required to design and launch an outreach and engagement campaign, travel costs for our team to attend festivals, film festival submission fees, print materials, and the creation of a discussion guide.

With the holiday season right around the corner, now is still a perfect time to check out some of the some fantastic perks remaining — custom City of Trees hoodies, signed copies of the DVD, community screenings, associate and executive producer credits, even a discounted commissioned video for your nonprofit. Since these last two weeks of the year are also the most common time for people to make tax-deductible contributions, we are hoping that current supporters continue sharing the film and campaign with friends and encourage them to make a tax-deductible contribution before December 30.

All donations through this Kickstarter campaign are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law through our non-profit fiscal sponsor Kartemquin Films (minus the fair market value of any perks claimed).
