Navigating the River: the Complexities of Telling Someone Else's Story

The first Roundtable meeting for this year will kick off in Washington DC next Monday night, featuring Brandon Kramer of Meridian Hill Pictures. He will discuss the challenges of telling someone else's story with integrity when the filmmaker is not from the same community, using the experience of making City of Trees (a Docs In Progress Focus Group alum) as a case study.

The Documentary Roundtable is a joint program of Women in Film and Video and Docs In Progress and switches off between talks at Interface Media in Washington DC and trailer feedback sessions at Docs In Progress in Silver Spring. Both types of roundtables include time for networking and are open to filmmakers and other film professionals who work in the documentary field. Meetings are free for members of Women in Film and Video and Docs In Progress' Docs Insiders program, and are $10 for all others. This is a great way to get to know others in the DC-area documentary filmmaking community while building your know-how.
